When I was Vice President, I would always look forward to this event. You know, from your parents to your children and your siblings, to your battle buddies: I want to thank everyone from the Wounded Warrior Project and countless other organizations and tireless advocates on your behalf - you know, wounded and injured service members and veterans. Jill and I used to spend a lot of time when I was Vice President and then when our son was ill - Army - over at Walter Reed, looking at the families - looking at the families and the caregivers who made such a gigantic difference in the attitude and the recovery of those veterans. You know, of course, we’re honored to have with us the outstanding military veterans, families, and caregivers who stood by veterans throughout everything thick and thin. I hope you don’t forget that.Īnd you’re joined by - we’re joined by the Vice President and the First Gentleman, Doug and Kamala, today and several members of Congress as well. You know, as Jill said, you all - and it’s not hyperbole - you’re a little inspiration to the nation. Well, it’s a lot easier to say than do, especially in the circumstances many of you’ve been through.
